Gay Erotic Spirituality

This collage bringing together images of the gay soul along with images of protection from Hinduism. It illustrates the importance for all people to heal the split from the Judeo-Christian tradition between the erotic and the spiritual. I was influenced by many important gay male teachers but also by the lesbian feminist Audre Lorde’s essay, “Uses of the Erotic: The Erotic as Power.” There she writes, “When I speak of the erotic, then, I speak of it as an assertion of the lifeforce of women; of that creative energy empowered, the knowledge and use of which we are now reclaiming in our language, our history, our dancing, our loving, our work, our lives.” This is also true for straight men and queer men.
