This painting in oil illustrates what it meant for me to discover the inner “persons” of my psychic reality. Who is that person that tells me I am not straight-enough, too gay, too fat, not good enough. That is not just my “outer” society, but my “inner” society too. This painting illustrates my attempt to face the love-hate relationship between my “inner attacker” and my “hurt-child self” in their dance of death. This painting is my effort to pull each other apart and give the Inner Attacker some containment and boundaries and to reparent the inner child. This is a post-Freudian analysis of the three parts of the mind, the Id, ego and Superego.
